Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2009, New Zealand

Now initially I was quite annoyed with Tesco for placing this Sauvignon Blanc in a fridge with other wines that were on special offer, since I didn’t realise until I got home that it had cost me £9.24! But, since it came with strong recommendations from my sister, who was round for Sunday lunch, I could not be bothered to return and complain (false advertising blah blah blah…)

I have to say, while close to a tenner is normally above what I would want to pay for an everyday wine, this one did not disappoint. With strong flavours of tropical fruits and elderflower on the palate, plus a delicious herby aroma, this pale, youthful example is exactly what I want from a Sauvignon Blanc.

At the moment you can try the 2010 bottle for £9.99 or £7.99 if you buy two bottles at Majestic wine. Plus, I have it on good authority that this (quite rightly) popular wine can often be found in the supermarkets on offer for around £5 a bottle, so it is definitely one to watch.

My verdict… Full marks and worth a few extra pounds!
