Spanish offerings

This week has had a somewhat Spanish theme with Rioja Tapas Fantasticas taking place last weekend and my upcoming holiday to Lake Viñuela (wahey) this weekend, so while browsing Marks & Spencers earlier today I decided to go for a bottle of Toque Virtuoso Sauvignon Blanc 2011 from Valencia to enjoy with friends over lunch. Now I know you should never judge a book by its cover but you have to admit, this new addition to the M & S wine range does have a pretty cool label…

With tangy aromas of mango and gooseberry, this Sauvignon Blanc is pretty similar in flavour profile to some of New Zealand’s familiar offerings (Oyster Bay, for example), and at £6.99 it is much cheaper too. While some Sauvignon Blancs finish with a mouth puckering acidity, this white is perfectly rounded and smooth – a perfect match to Spanish tapas out in the garden (providing the rain buggers off), and the ideal beginning to my summer holiday.

Hasta luego!
