Small change, big flavour

On Sunday I picked up a bottle of Asda Extra Special Dão 2010 to go with our baked gammon. Often when we think of Portugal, port springs to mind as the signature tipple, but this full bodied red certainly puts wine from the regions of this beautiful country on my radar.

A blend of three local grape varieties – touriga nacional, tinta roriz and jaen – this full bodied, rich and enticing wine is the perfect match for your Sunday roast ham. With spiced cherry and blackcurrant fruit flavours, plus a hint of vanilla oak, it’s a steal at £6.49 (even more so at the discounted price of £5) and another red from the Extra Special range that makes Asda’s wine aisle well worth a visit!
