Thousands are taking part in dry January or Veganuary this month but instead of giving up everything you enjoy, why not just enjoy a little less of it? Whether it be gin, steak, carbs, caffeine or chocolate, a little bit of what you fancy does you good! This month, I’ll continue to enjoy a glass of wine, so here are two of my favourite low alcohol options to see you through an otherwise incredibly boring lettuce-filled January!
Wirra Wirra Mrs Wigley Moscato, 4.5% alc, Australia, reduced to £5.99, Ocado
This pretty pink Moscato is my guilty wine pleasure (particularly with a punnet of strawberries in the summer months). With sweet melon and lychee flavours, this juicy, bright tipple is balanced by gentle acidity and a subtle spritz – share a bottle or two with friends on a lazy Saturday afternoon.
Max Ferd Richter Veldenzer Elisenberg Riesling Kabinett 2011, 9.5% alc, Germany, £13.99, Laithwaites
Typically lower in alcohol and lighter in style, flavoursome Kabinett Rieslings are perfect for lighter sipping. This white makes a delicious aperitif and, with white peach flavours and an off dry finish, it is also ideal alongside spicy Asian cuisine.
Cheers to a healthy and happy 2014!
