Drakes Tabanco

Sherry and tapas are two of my favourite things and I’ve been meaning to give Drakes Tabanco a try for a while now, so on Friday off I went in search of some fino and jamon.

Tucked away down a side street off Charlotte Lane, this sherry den is ideal if you want to perch on a stool at the charcuterie bar, glass in hand, or if you want to sit and leisurely enjoy a selection of small plates for dinner.

If the latter appeals to you, I recommend the garlic and chilli prawns, cured sardines and braised pig cheeks, all washed down with a glass of Fino ‘en Rama’ Especial, served straight from the barrel and followed by a generous slice of chocolate and oloroso tart.

A meal for two with bread and wine will set you back a rather reasonable £70.
