A cheeky Italian

It’s official, prosecco is performing better than champagne as cash-conscious Brits trade-in the expensive French bubbles for more affordable Italian fizz. As reported by The Independent, last year prosecco outsold champagne by three million bottles and, never one to pass up an opportunity for a bit of everyday celebration, on Saturday a group of friends and I decided to crack open a bottle of Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Conegliano Prosecco DOCG (£9.99).

This is one of my favourite go-to wines and for me, it’s one of the best proseccos available to buy on the high street. It keeps the crowds happy at a party and it’s delicious alongside Italian fare. Crisp and fresh with ripe apple and citrus flavours, we shared a bottle with a plate of figs, Serrano ham and mozzarella, drizzled with olive oil and a squeeze of lemon juice. Salute!
